 Hello Teachers and Students,

We left our motel in Oklahoma City this morning in the steady rain.  With directions in hand, we set off for Capitol Hill High School.  Either the directions or the navigation was faulty, because we were soon lost.  So we stopped at a AAA office and obtained new directions.  This time we found the school and met with Pam Chamblee, a social studies teacher.  After we explained our project to her, Pam enthusiastically agreed to have her classes be the first to see our Route 66 presentation.
After leaving the high school, we went in search of Route 66 local color.  The author of our guide book had written about a "giant" milk bottle.  The reality was somewhat less than we had anticipated as you can see by the pictures.
After lunch we headed for Clinton, Oklahoma, where Mr. Gwartney's mom was raised and spent the early years of her married life.  We visited Clinton High School and received another positive response to our project.  We're two for two so far!
Before calling it a day, we took a quick tour through the Route 66 Museum in Clinton.  Mr. Gwartney drooled all over the '57 Chevy in the museum.
Tomorrow, on to the wilds of Texas.

 P.S.
It is 9:00 P.M. and the slave driver is letting us stop early tonight.  Last night he worked us until midnight.
