Sept. 16, 2003
Dear Teachers and Students,
We passed through several small towns including
Winslow, Arizona, and the tiny town of Winona, as we traveled Route 66 today.
On the road through Winona, we spied a relic from the past, an old bridge.
We stopped the car to take pictures of it and wished that it could speak and
tell us of the lives of the people who had passed beneath its spans.
From Winslow the road began to climb. The sand and
scrub brush gave way to pine trees and green grass. When we arrived in
Flagstaff, we had lunch and then went to meet Mr. David Maurer,
President/Chief Executive Officer of the Flagstaff Chamber of
Commerce. He gave us information about contacting a high school in the
city, and then we hit the road once more.
Tonight we are staying in Kingman, our last night in
Arizona. Tomorrow we will pass through Oatman. Arizona, and then enter
into California. Barstow is our final destination for Wednesday night.

We will send pictures tomorrow.
