The Diablo Performance Page
On this page I'm going to test and list a variety of motor installations. I'll add pics and info as the testing continues.

Test #1

Motor: 1964 Mercury model 110 9.8 hp
Driver: 180 pounds
Observed speed using GPS: 20.5 mph
Comment: Gets on plane in about 20 feet, added 240 pound passenger and still recorded 14 mph

Test #2

Motor: Briggs & Stratton Etek DC permanent magnet motor on a homemade lower unit
Driver: 180 pounds
Observed speed using GPS: 5.7 mph
Comment: This is an experimental configuration and is still being worked out. For more info click here

Test #3
No Picture

Motor: 1940 Johnson 5 horsepower AT- 10
Driver: 180 pounds
Observed speed using GPS: 5.1 mph
Comment: During this test there were 3 passengers and 3 large batteries on board. The total weight was probably about 1000 pounds

Test #4
No Picture

Motor: Mercury KG-7 circa 1950 - 1952 10 horsepower
Driver: 200 pounds
Passenger: 180 pounds
Observed speed using GPS: 22 mph
Comment: The 20 cubic inch Mercurys of the period were notoriously underrated on power. It says right on the motor 10 horsepower but this thing is a lot faster the Merc model 110 which is the subject of an earlier test
