Power To Spare

1984 Nissan 300 ZX Turbo

** pampered original: with every bell and whistle available **

The first time I sat in the cockpit, er, driver's seat of this inherited vehicle, I needed the owner's manual to figure out what all the digital readouts, graphs, graphics, and switches were for! A few that I continue to find fascinating - for a 1984 vehicle - include:

  • switch to wash the headlights

  • switch to de-fog the side view mirrors

  • 3-position switch to adjust the shock absorbers

  • compass

  • acceleration (dial reads in Gs)

  • readouts to indicate current miles per gallon, and how many miles can still be traveled at the current speed based on the amount of fuel left in the tank

  • it talks
