Bob Murray is not just my neighbor, he is one of the most energetic people I've
ever met. He works every day from sun up to sun down improving and
expanding his gardens and plant collection. The work Bob has done terracing
the hillsides on his property with large rocks will amaze you. He moved here in
1994 and has been constantly building and improving his property.

Bob has been collecting conifers, which are junipers and pine trees for
nearly fifty years now. He has many species of plants which are now extinct in
their native habitat. These plants he gathered back in the 1940s through the
1970s before developers had to be concerned with environmental impact
studies. Bob has plants from all over the western united States. Nearly all of
these Bob gathered himself by hiking for miles to remote mountain areas. He
still goes on these gathering trips several times a years. He gathers cuttings
from live plants then plants these tiny branches in his green house. After many
years of his loving care, these cuttings will become full size plants.

In addition to the conifers, Bob has a large collection of catus from around
the world. They bloom in March and April and they are quite a beautiful sight to
see.
