(The above was recorded in 1992 by Anne C. Collins)
The following is a quote from Faye McGaughey Railsback's journal:
"Amy Swetnam DeFendis and I visited this cemetery May 18, 1997. It was so overgrown that we could not find all of the above mentioned stones, but found others. Paul Christian's stone is broken and leaning against Mary King Christian's. There is a fence around the cemetery, but it is mostly down. A large dead tree is on the northwest corner & will likely fall and break Mary King Christian's stone. Her stone was found intact. Sarah F. Christian's stone is down, but readable. There were stones for: W.E.C.(Willie E. Christian?), I.C.(Ida C.?). Stones for Earnest and the Infant Dau. of P.J. & S.F. Christian were not found.
Stones were found for M. ? S. which could be M.E.S. for Martha Elizabeth Swetnam, dau of George & Caroline Swetnam and R.S.C. which could be Robert Sutton Christian, son of Paul & Mary King Christian. There was also a stone which read V.B.C. There were marble stones that could not be read or turned over. All stones were read to the best of our ability under difficult circumstances."
This was a most memorable time of our trip; the opportunity to visit the gravesites of our great-great-great-grandparents, is an experience that will be remembered a lifetime.
