Reed

Benjamin N. Reed was born to Peter Reed and Wilhelmina Niepman in Montgomery County, Ohio abt 1832. On November 2, 1854 he married Mary Ann Simpson in Montgomery Co., Ohio. To this union five children were born:

Mary Ann Simpson Reed died in Keokuk County, Iowa on March 7, 1865. She is buried in the Garrett Cemetery between her son, Peter F. Reed and her brother William Simpson Jr. who died February 12, 1865. The Garrett Cemetery is located between Signourney and What Cheer in Keokuk Co., Iowa.
After the death of Mary Ann, Benjamin returned to Ohio. He and his four daughters were living in Montgomery County, Ohio at the time of the 1870 census.
Benjamin moved to Randolph County, Missouri sometime after 1870. It is not known if any or all of his children moved at that time. Since Jennie was married December 18, 1879 in Randolph County, Missouri, it can be assumed that she moved there with her father. The 1880 census shows that he had remarried a Mary Smith. She and two of her childred were living with Benjamin in Randolph County, Missouri in 1880. Mary Smith Reed is buried in Randolph County, Missouri at the Oakland Cemetery. Prior to Mary Smith's death Benjamin moved to Texas but records of his death and burial have not been found. There is a newspaper mention of a train accident that severly injured Mary Smith Reed.
