James Logan Thompson was born March 22, 1834 in Lincoln County, Tennessee. He married Mary Francis Duckworth probably in either Tennessee or Arkansas. There are seven known children born to James Logan and Mary Francis:

• May Thompson
• Sally Thompson
• Charles Eton Thompson born April 16, 1871 in Fayetteville, Lawrence Co., Arkansas and died in Chalk, Texas August, 1942.
• Oscar Thompson (twin) born May 27, 1878.
• Arthur Thompson (twin) born May 27, 1878.
• Addie Thompson was born February 1, 1896 and died February 15, 1897.

James Logan Thompson was a Confederate soldier. He died June 30 1904 in Wise County, Texas. Mary Francis Duckworth died January 27, 1911 in Wise County, Texas; she and James Logan are buried in Willow Point Cemetery in Wise County, Texas. Addie Thompson is also buried at Willow Point Cemetery.
