Win 98 Dial-Up Networking
START HERE
- Double click on the "My Computer" icon on the desktop.
- Double click on the "Dial-Up Networking" icon.
- Double click on the "Make New Connection" icon.
The following steps correspond to the above image.
- Type
psnw.com in the top box.
- Make sure the correct modem is listed in the second box.
- Click on the "Configure" button.

The following steps correspond to the above image.
- Match the speed as close as possible to the
actual speed of your modem. (For a 14.4k modem select 19200, for a 28.8k or 33.6k modem
select 38400, for a 56k modem select 57600.)
- Click on the "OK" button.

- Click on the "Next" button.
The following steps correspond to the above image.
- Type in your local access number for psnw.com. If you are unsure what your local access number is, call technical support at 1-866-490-8600.
- Click on the "Next" button.

- Click on the "Finish" button.

- You should now have a Dial-Up Networking connection labeled psnw.com.
- Click once on the psnw.com icon.
- From the row of menus at the top, click on "File" then "Properties".

- Click on the "Server Types" tab.

The following steps correspond to the above image.
- Under "Advanced Options", only "Enable Software Compression" should have a check mark.
- Under "Allowed Network Protocols", only "TCP/IP" should have a check mark.
- Click on the "TCP/IP Settings..." button.

The following steps correspond to the above image.
- The first radio button labeled "Server assigned IP address" should be selected.
- The second radio button, labeled "Server assigned name server addresses" should be selected.
- "Use IP header compression" and "Use default gateway on remote network" should both have check marks.
- Click on the "OK" button.

The following steps correspond to the above image.
- Enter your username and password.
NOTE: Your username is the same as your e-mail address.
- Check the "Save Password" box to save your password for future sessions.
- If you have call waiting, need to dial a number to access an outside line,
or need to dial a 10-digit phone number, click on the "Dial Properties" button.
If not, then you are ready to connect and can skip the following steps.

The following steps correspond to the above image.
- If you need to dial a number to access an outside line,
enter the number you need to dial to access an outside line,
followed by a comma, where it says "To access an outside line:".
- If you need to disable call waiting,
place a check mark next to where it says "To disable call waiting, dial:"
and then select the appropriate prefix for the phone system in your area from the drop down menu.
Contact your local phone company if you are unsure what prefix you should use to disable call waiting.
- If you need to dial a 10-digit number,
click on the "Area Code Rules" button. If not, click "OK" twice to finish.

- Place a check mark next to where it says "Always dial the area code (10-digit dialing)."
- Click on the "OK" button.
